Flavin-dependent enzymes are a broad class of enzymes that utilize flavin cofactors—primarily flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) or flavin mononucleotide (FMN)—to catalyze a wide variety of biological redox reactions essential for all forms of life. These enzymes play critical roles in metabolism, biosynthesis, detoxification, and cellular signaling. They are classified into oxidases, dehydrogenases, monooxygenases, reductases and redox-neutral enzymes.
