FLRT2 antisense RNA 1 (FLRT2-AS1) is a non-coding antisense RNA transcribed from the promoter region of the FLRT2 gene. This lncRNA is part of a broader class of regulatory RNAs that may influence gene expression through RNA-RNA interactions or chromatin modification, though its specific biological function remains to be characterized in experimental studies. FLRT2-AS1 is one of several non-coding RNAs transcribed in the FLRT2 locus, and may play a regulatory role via interaction with the sense FLRT2 transcript, as found in other antisense lncRNA/gene pairs. Explicit biological functions of FLRT2-AS1 have not been established in scientific literature as of the current knowledge search. There is insufficient evidence currently linking FLRT2-AS1 directly to any disease; its sense gene, FLRT2, is implicated in cell migration, adhesion, neurodevelopment, and possibly cancer, but a direct disease association for the antisense RNA has not been established. No direct link to disease or therapeutic strategies has been described to date. FLRT2-AS1 is a non-coding RNA, not a protein target. It is not currently a known therapeutic target or biomarker, and no drugs, mechanisms of action, or safety concerns have been reported.
