Overview

FMNL1 antisense RNA 1 (FMNL1-AS1) is a predicted long noncoding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the FMNL1 locus. As an antisense transcript, it may regulate FMNL1 gene expression through RNA-based mechanisms, such as transcriptional interference or RNA-RNA interaction. However, there is currently no published literature directly describing its biological functions, disease relevance, drug interactions, or clinical biomarker potential. Almost all research and molecular characterization concerns the FMNL1 gene or protein, a member of the formin family involved in actin filament regulation, immune cell function, and cancer progression. This causes frequent misattribution between FMNL1-AS1 and FMNL1 in public databases and literature. As of now, FMNL1-AS1 should be considered a gene annotation for a noncoding transcript with unknown functional or clinical relevance. If you seek information specifically on FMNL1 protein, there is extensive detail regarding its molecular function, role in cancer, immune cell identification, biomarker use, and involvement in actin cytoskeleton dynamics[1][2][3][4][5]. However, FMNL1-AS1 should not be conflated with FMNL1, as no therapeutic or biomarker relevance is established for FMNL1-AS1.
