FLT3 (Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3), also known as CD135, is a receptor tyrosine kinase primarily expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells. It plays a critical role in the regulation of survival, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Mutations in FLT3 are common in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), leading to constitutive activation and aggressive disease. FLT3 has become an important therapeutic target, with several small-molecule inhibitors developed for clinical use, although resistance mechanisms limit long-term efficacy.
