Target intelligence / Profile preview
FNDC1 antisense RNA 1 (FNDC1-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) classified as a natural antisense transcript (NAT) produced from the genomic region opposite the FNDC1 gene[4]. Antisense RNAs like FNDC1-AS1 can regulate gene expression through various mechanisms, including transcriptional interference, chromatin modification, and direct regulation of the sense (protein-coding) gene by interacting at the RNA level[2]. While the FNDC1 protein is implicated in oncogenesis and muscle differentiation, the antisense transcript FNDC1-AS1 has not been clearly established as a therapeutic target or biomarker, and no drugs specifically target this RNA. The functional roles of FNDC1-AS1, like those of many antisense RNAs, likely involve fine-tuning the expression of the FNDC1 gene or adjacent loci, but specific disease roles or interacting drugs for FNDC1-AS1 itself are not currently documented in the literature[2][4].
