Forkhead box protein N2 (FOXN2)

Target
FOXN2
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Forkhead box (FOX) family
01

Overview

Forkhead box protein N2 (FOXN2) is a member of the forkhead box (FOX) family of transcription factors characterized by a winged-helix DNA-binding domain[1][8]. It acts as a transcriptional regulator, including modulating the response elements in the long terminal repeat (LTR) of human T-cell leukemia virus (HTLV)[2][3]. FOXN2 functions as a tumor suppressor, regulating cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and therapeutic response in various cancer types; reduced expression or degradation of FOXN2 is linked with enhanced cancer aggressiveness and poorer patient outcomes. It is also implicated in transcriptional regulation of genes involved with immune and tissue-specific developmental processes[1][2][8].
