Overview

Forty-two-three domain-containing protein 1 (FYTTD1, also known as UAP56-interacting factor or UIF) is a nuclear adaptor protein essential for the export of mRNA from the nucleus to the cytoplasm[1][2][8]. FYTTD1 functions by utilizing the DDX39B/UAP56-NFX1 (TAP) pathway, ensuring efficient translocation of mRNA to nuclear pores[1][2][8]. It binds to both spliced and unspliced mRNAs and interacts with SSRP1, ALYREF/THOC4, and components of the mRNA export machinery. FYTTD1 is implicated in inherited disorders such as congenital myasthenic syndromes and retinitis pigmentosa[2]. There is currently no evidence that FYTTD1 is a common therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter) nor that drugs directly interact with it.
