Four-jointed box protein 1 is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the FJX1 gene in humans. It is orthologous to the Drosophila four-jointed gene, which is involved in growth and patterning during development, particularly in limbs and eyes. In mammals, its function is less well defined; in mice, it acts as an inhibitor of dendrite extension and branching, and may influence the development of neural and other tissues, but its precise role in human biology and pathology remains unclear[1][6][7][2]. There are no known approved drugs, clinical biomarkers, or established links to major disease areas for this protein at present.
