Overview

FOXF2 antisense RNA 1 (FOXF2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed on the opposite strand of the FOXF2 gene locus. Like other antisense RNAs, it can bind to the complementary mRNA (in this case, FOXF2 mRNA) and modulate its stability, splicing, or translation, often resulting in regulatory effects on the expression of FOXF2 or nearby genes. Antisense RNAs are known to regulate gene expression and are increasingly recognized for their roles in cancer biology and cell proliferation. The exact biological and pathological functions of FOXF2-AS1 are not fully understood, but analogous molecules are implicated in controlling cellular processes central to tumor progression and vascular function. If more information is needed regarding its mechanistic roles, disease relevance, or molecular interactions, further dedicated studies specific to FOXF2-AS1 (rather than the FOXF2 gene itself) would be required.
