Fractalkine (CX3CL1)

Target
CX3CL1
Molecular classification
Chemokine, CX3C chemokine
01

Overview

Fractalkine, also known as CX3CL1, is a unique chemokine that exists in both membrane-bound and soluble forms. It functions as an adhesion molecule and chemoattractant, respectively. Its signaling through CX3CR1 orchestrates key aspects of immune cell trafficking under normal physiology as well as diverse pathological states including neurodegeneration, cardiovascular disease, autoimmunity—and potentially cancer progression through effects on angiogenesis.
