Frizzled receptor 1 (FZD1) is a member of the Frizzled family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), serving as a cell surface receptor for Wnt signaling proteins. It mediates both canonical (Wnt/β-catenin) and noncanonical Wnt signaling pathways. FZD1 plays crucial roles in embryonic development, tissue homeostasis, and stem cell maintenance. Upon Wnt ligand binding, FZD1 activates downstream signaling cascades by coupling to heterotrimeric G proteins and interacting with Dishevelled proteins. The FZD1 transcript is found in multiple human tissues, and its orthologous genes are present across vertebrates with conserved function and structure.
