While some pseudogenes have regulatory roles at the RNA level, there are no reports of any significant biological activity, therapeutic target significance, or biomarker use for this particular pseudogene. It should not be confused with the similarly named, functional FAHD1 gene, which encodes an active mitochondrial oxaloacetate decarboxylase enzyme[1][3].
