Target intelligence / Profile preview
FUN14 domain containing 2 pseudogene 2 (FUNDC2P2) is a human processed pseudogene highly homologous to the functional gene FUNDC2. While its canonical open reading frame is disrupted, sequence analysis and proteomic data suggest potential alternative translation resulting in a truncated form containing the FUN14 domain. Its expression has been observed in human testis and across Old World primates, indicating possible evolutionary conservation. Pseudogenes generally lack protein-coding function but may have regulatory or genomic effects, including modulation of gene networks or impact on disease through mechanisms such as epigenetic silencing, genetic fusion, or mutagenesis. However, FUNDC2P2 has no recognized role as a therapeutic target and no direct disease association established[1][3][5].
None. No mechanisms of drug action established for this gene, due to its classification as a pseudogene
