Fyn tyrosine-protein kinase (Fyn) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase and a member of the Src family kinases (SFKs). It plays critical roles in various cellular processes, including cell growth, survival, adhesion, differentiation, and signal transduction. Fyn is especially important in neuronal signaling and T-cell activation. Dysregulation or mutation of FYN has been linked to cancer progression/metastasis as well as neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. In Alzheimer’s models specifically, aberrant activation by amyloid-beta oligomers leads to pathological changes that can be mitigated by inhibiting Fyn activity—making it a potential therapeutic target for intervention strategies aimed at neurodegeneration.
