Overview
G antigen 12F (GAGE12F) is a member of the GAGE family of cancer/testis antigens—primate-specific proteins normally restricted to germ cells, but aberrantly expressed in a broad spectrum of cancers[2][5]. GAGE12F enhances tumor cell survival by promoting anti-apoptotic mechanisms and is linked to increased cell migration, invasion, and clonogenic survival, implicating it in cancer progression and metastasis[2][4]. The protein may modulate gene expression via chromatin association, suggesting a regulatory function in both germ and cancer cells[2]. Due to its restricted normal expression and widespread tumor expression, GAGE12F is considered a promising therapeutic target and a potential biomarker in oncology[2][5].
