GAGE family proteins are generally not receptors, enzymes, or transporters, and there is no current evidence that GAGE12J functions as a classical drug or therapeutic target. However, like other cancer/testis antigens, GAGE12J may have a potential, though unproven, role as a biomarker or as a target for cancer immunotherapy research due to its expression pattern in cancers and immune-privileged tissues[1][5]. No drugs are currently known to interact specifically with GAGE12J.\n\nNote: This gene should not be confused with the "G antigen" of the blood group system, which is unrelated[4].
