Overview

G patch domain-containing protein 2-like (GPATCH2L) is a human protein encoded by the GPATCH2L gene located at chromosome 14q24.3[1][5]. The protein contains a characteristic G-patch domain, and is predicted to function in RNA metabolism, likely contributing to RNA processing within nuclear compartments such as the nucleolus[2][4][1]. Experimental evidence shows GPATCH2L interacts with proteins involved in ribosome biogenesis and RNA processing (e.g., KRR1, DDX10, NOL6)[1]. Expression is highest in bone marrow, testis, and brain, with protein predominantly localized in the nucleus[1][8]. Disease associations include various cancers (e.g., breast, pancreatic, maxillary, and jaw), and genetic variation in the GPATCH2L locus is linked to scleroderma renal crisis and Retinitis pigmentosa 24[5][1]. While involvement in disease is noted, there are no known drugs directly targeting GPATCH2L, nor is it considered a standard therapeutic target or biomarker at this time[1][5]. The precise biological function of GPATCH2L remains incompletely understood[1].
