G protein-coupled receptor 137C (GPR137C) is a predicted integral membrane receptor belonging to the large family of seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptors. Orthologs are present in humans and model organisms (e.g., zebrafish). GPR137C is localized to the lysosomal membrane and may play a role in positive regulation of TORC1/mTOR signaling, but its precise endogenous ligand, cellular function in humans, and disease relevance remain poorly characterized. It is currently considered an orphan receptor with no confirmed ligands or drug interactions, and is not yet established as a diagnostic or therapeutic target. Like other GPCRs, it likely functions in membrane signal transduction and could in the future be relevant for drug development once its pharmacology and biology are clarified.
Unknown; as no drugs or endogenous ligands have been confirmed. By analogy to other GPCRs: if ligands are found, likely operates via downstream G protein signaling with potential second messenger effects (cAMP, IP3, calcium, etc.).
