G protein-coupled receptor 153 (GPR153) is an orphan member of the Class A rhodopsin superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors, primarily expressed in the central nervous system, most notably in regions such as the thalamus, cerebellum, and arcuate nucleus[1][2][5][8]. Although its endogenous ligand and precise physiological role remain unidentified, available evidence indicates its involvement in neural signaling, regulation of food intake, decision making, and vascular responses, and it has been genetically linked to certain neuropsychiatric disorders including schizophrenia and autism[1][3][8]. GPR153 is evolutionarily related to GPR162 and, due to its CNS localization and disease associations, is being investigated as a potential therapeutic target[2][1][3].
