G protein pathway suppressor 2 pseudogene 1 (GPS2P1)

Target
GPS2P1
Molecular classification
Pseudogene

Overview

G protein pathway suppressor 2 pseudogene 1 (GPS2P1) is a non-coding pseudogene related to the *G protein pathway suppressor 2* (GPS2) gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to known genes but are non-functional; they do not encode active proteins and lack biological activity. There is no evidence in the scientific literature that GPS2P1 has any functional, therapeutic, or biomarker role. GPS2 (the parental gene) is a multifunctional protein involved in tumor suppression, metabolism, and cellular signaling pathways, with described functions in cancer and inflammatory diseases[2]. However, GPS2P1 itself appears only as a genomic relic with no biological or therapeutic significance.
