G protein subunit gamma 13 (GNG13) is a gamma subunit of heterotrimeric G proteins involved in modulating and transducing signals from G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). It is specifically expressed in taste, retinal, and neuronal tissues, and plays a crucial role in taste transduction and neuronal signaling. The beta and gamma chains are necessary for GTPase enzymatic function, GDP-GTP exchange, and interaction with downstream effectors.
