Overview

GA-binding protein transcription factor subunit beta-2 (GABPB2) is a protein coding gene that encodes a subunit of the GA-binding protein (GABP) transcription factor complex. GABPB2 participates in forming a tetrameric complex with the GABPA subunit and is involved in stimulating transcription of target genes, particularly by binding to purine-rich (GA repeat) elements. It is thought to play a role in the activation of key genes in development, regulation of the cell cycle, positive regulation of transcription, and may have a role in nuclear control of mitochondrial function. GABPB2 has been linked to neurological and cancer-associated processes such as gliomagenesis and is being studied as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target in tumors, notably glioblastoma[1][2][3][7].
