Gag-p41 Antigen

Molecular classification
Viral protein, Structural protein
01

Overview

The Gag-p41 antigen is a cleavage product of the HIV-1 Gag polyprotein, comprised of the capsid protein (p24) and spacer peptide 1 (SP1). It is essential for virus assembly, maturation, and genome packaging. It is also a key target for maturation inhibitors and a common antigen used in HIV vaccine development due to its ability to elicit strong T cell responses. Mutations in the CA-SP1 region can lead to drug resistance.
