The GAGE family pseudogene (ENSG00000196395) is a nonfunctional DNA segment with high sequence similarity to functional GAGE genes, which encode small, acidic proteins found mainly in cancers and testis[1][7]. Pseudogenes are regions of the genome resembling genes in sequence but lacking the ability to produce a functional protein, often due to mutations or missing regulatory elements[2][5].
