GALM antisense RNA 1 (GALM-AS1) is an antisense long non-coding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the GALM gene. Antisense lncRNAs as a class are known to regulate expression of their corresponding sense gene through diverse mechanisms, including chromatin modification, transcriptional regulation, and modulation of mRNA stability, but there are no specific reports detailing the function, disease association, drug interactions, or biomarker use of GALM-AS1. The gene is not considered a canonical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter) and no direct biological or pathophysiological function has been established for GALM-AS1 itself.
