Overview

GAU1 is a long non-coding RNA that plays a significant role in regulating the expression of nearby genes, notably GALNT8. It is involved in promoting cell cycle and proliferation in cancer cells, particularly in colorectal cancer. GAU1's overexpression is associated with poor prognosis in CRC patients. It acts as an oncogenic factor by enhancing tumor growth and rendering cancer cells more sensitive to certain chemotherapy agents. GAU1 is also implicated in other cancers such as neuroblastoma, where it similarly promotes tumorigenesis.
