Target intelligence / Profile preview
Gamma-aminobutyric acid A receptor subunit alpha-2 (GABRA2) is a protein subunit of the GABA-A receptor, a ligand-gated chloride channel that mediates fast inhibitory neurotransmission in the brain. GABRA2 contributes to the formation of pentameric GABA-A receptors, influencing their pharmacology and physiological function. Alterations in GABRA2 expression or function have been implicated in neuropsychiatric disorders, including alcohol dependence and anxiety.
Positive allosteric modulation of GABA-A receptor activity.
