Target intelligence / Profile preview
Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit alpha 5 (GABRA5) is a subunit of the GABA-A receptor, a ligand-gated chloride channel that mediates inhibitory neurotransmission in the brain. GABRA5-containing receptors are primarily found in the hippocampus and play roles in learning, memory, and anxiety. Selective modulation of GABRA5 receptors is being explored as a potential therapeutic strategy for cognitive disorders.
Allosteric modulation of GABA-A receptor activity; either positive (agonists) or negative (inverse agonists)
