Gamma-glutamyltransferase 6 (GGT6) is a membrane-bound extracellular enzyme in the gamma-glutamyltransferase family that catalyzes the transfer of the γ-glutamyl group from glutathione and other peptides to acceptor amino acids or peptides. This enzymatic process is critical for maintaining glutathione homeostasis, and thus contributes to antioxidant defense, detoxification, and amino acid transport.
