Gamma-glutamyltransferase 8 pseudogene (GGT8P), also known as FLJ31276, is annotated as a human pseudogene. It belongs to the gamma-glutamyltransferase gene family, members of which normally encode enzymes involved in glutathione metabolism and amino acid transfer across cell membranes. However, as a pseudogene, GGT8P does not encode a functional protein and has no known biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance. It is not considered a molecular target for drugs or therapeutics. "Pseudogene" classification means GGT8P is generally noncoding and nonfunctional with respect to enzyme or receptor activity. There is no evidence that GGT8P is involved in any signaling, regulatory, or pathological processes. No drugs, biomarkers, or safety issues are associated with GGT8P. The presence of “pseudogene” in the name and lack of a functional product indicate this is not a real therapeutic target, and its inclusion as a target is likely incorrect.
