Staphylococcus gamma-hemolysin AB (HlgAB) is a bicomponent, pore-forming toxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus. It is composed of HlgA and HlgB subunits that oligomerize on the surface of target cells, forming a transmembrane pore that leads to cell lysis. HlgAB targets chemokine receptors CXCR1, CXCR2, and CCR2 on immune cells, particularly neutrophils and monocytes, contributing to immune evasion during S. aureus infection.
