Overview

GAS1 adjacent regulatory RNA (GAS1RR) is a long non-coding RNA classified as an immune-related enhancer RNA, located near the GAS1 (Growth Arrest-Specific Protein 1) gene and positively co-expressed with it[2]. GAS1RR expression is significantly reduced in prostate cancer tissues compared to normal tissues, and lower expression is associated with poorer prognosis and adverse clinicopathological features such as higher Gleason score, higher PSA, and increased risk of biochemical recurrence[2]. Functional enrichment analyses indicate that GAS1RR is involved in regulating cell adhesion, external structure organization, and modulates cancer-related signaling pathways, specifically calcium and MAPK pathways[2]. GAS1RR expression correlates strongly with infiltration by various immune cell types in the tumor microenvironment, suggesting roles in immune regulation and potential impact on therapeutic responses[2]. Due to these characteristics, GAS1RR is considered a prognostic biomarker and a potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer, with broader expression and survival associations seen in other cancer types[2]. No specific drugs or direct mechanisms of drug action have yet been identified for this lncRNA.
