Overview

GAS6 antisense RNA 1 is a long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 13q34. It is transcribed antisense to the GAS6 gene and acts through multiple molecular pathways to regulate cancer progression and cellular metabolism. GAS6-AS1 is upregulated in several cancers, supporting cell proliferation, invasion, and glycolysis, primarily by modulating signaling pathways such as AMPK/mTOR and acting as a competing endogenous RNA to sequester specific microRNAs. Downregulation of GAS6-AS1 has been shown to suppress tumor growth both in vitro and in vivo, suggesting potential as a therapeutic target and biomarker for patient prognosis[1][2][3]. Note: One key publication on clear cell renal cell carcinoma was retracted, so its conclusions should be interpreted with caution and require further independent verification[1].
