Gastric H+, K+-ATPase, also known as the gastric proton pump, is a membrane-bound enzyme complex responsible for acidifying the stomach contents by exchanging intracellular H+ for extracellular K+ using ATP hydrolysis. It is a key therapeutic target for managing acid-related disorders such as peptic ulcer disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease, and is inhibited by proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
