Gastrointestinal mucosal repair refers to the biologically coordinated process by which the epithelial barrier of the gut heals following injury, restoring its function as a selective barrier between the internal milieu and the external environment, including the luminal microbiota, toxins, and nutrients[1][2][3][4].
