The GC-rich promoter binding protein 1-like 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000250200) is a non-functional genomic region highly homologous to the GPBP1L1 gene. Like other pseudogenes, it originated via duplication or retrotransposition and contains disabling mutations that prevent the production of a functional protein[2][5][6]. While pseudogenes may be transcribed and contribute non-coding RNAs with potential epigenetic or regulatory functions, most remain biologically silent. No therapeutic interventions or drug mechanisms are relevant for this locus[10]. This pseudogene is related to the parent GPBP1L1 gene, which is predicted to be involved in DNA and RNA binding and transcriptional regulation, but this pseudogene itself does not encode any active protein[10][1][7].
