General transcription factor IIF subunit 1 (GTF2F1) is a protein encoded by the GTF2F1 gene in humans. As part of the TFIIF complex, it binds to RNA polymerase II and is essential for recruiting the polymerase to the initiation complex during the process of transcription initiation by RNA polymerase II. It interacts with several other components of the transcription machinery, including CTDP1, GTF2H4, HNRPU, MED21, POLR2A, serum response factor, TAF11, TAF1, TATA binding protein, and Transcription Factor II B[1][2][6]. There are currently no known drugs that directly target GTF2F1, and it is not recognized as a therapeutic target in drug development.
