General transcription factor IIIC subunit 6 (GTF3C6) is a protein component of the TFIIIC complex, a six-subunit assembly necessary for RNA polymerase III-mediated transcription. TFIIIC facilitates recognition of internal promoter motifs (A-box and B-box) within tRNA and other small RNA genes, and recruits TFIIIB to initiate transcription. Beyond its transcriptional role, TFIIIC subunits participate in chromatin organization within the nucleus. GTF3C6 is tightly integrated into the TFIIIC2 subcomplex, directly binding to tRNA and virus-associated RNA promoters[3][2][1][5]. While TFIIIC activity has disease relevance, particularly in cancer and genome organization, GTF3C6 itself is not a validated therapeutic target nor is it used as a clinical biomarker.
