Target intelligence / Profile preview
The genome is the complete set of DNA instructions found in a cell, encompassing all chromosomes and containing all the genetic information required for the organism to develop, function, and reproduce[1][2][6][7]. In eukaryotes, most of the genome resides in the cell nucleus, with smaller amounts in mitochondria or chloroplasts[1][6]. The genome stores all genes and noncoding sequences necessary for life. It is not a single molecule or protein, but rather the complete assemblage of hereditary information[1][3][6]. Therapeutic strategies may sequence, edit, or analyze the genome, but do not interact with the genome as a unitary molecular target.
