Genomic nuclear double-stranded DNA is the primary molecular target of carboplatin. Carboplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent, exerts its cytotoxic effects by binding to DNA and forming covalent adducts, leading to DNA crosslinking. The formation of these crosslinks disrupts essential cellular processes such as DNA replication and transcription, ultimately leading to cell death through apoptosis or necrosis.
