Germinal center associated signaling and motility protein (GCSAM) is a cytoplasmic signaling adapter highly expressed in germinal center B cells, where it plays key roles in signal transduction and cell motility regulation. The protein contains a PDZ-interacting domain, immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM), and putative SH2-binding sites. GCSAM is specifically induced by interleukin-4 and is involved in negatively regulating lymphocyte motility and B-cell receptor signaling via activation of the SYK kinase and the RhoA/ROCK pathway. Its expression is notably elevated in germinal center-derived lymphomas and is used as a marker for germinal center B cells[1][6].
