Like other pseudogenes, it may retain high sequence similarity to the parent gene but typically lacks coding potential due to mutations, insertions, or deletions. Most pseudogenes, including GGCTP3, are not transcribed or translated, though in rare cases, pseudogenes can regulate their parent gene expression via miRNA decoy activity or other mechanisms; specifically, for GGCTP3, no such role has been identified[3][5][4].
