Overview

Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor family receptor alpha 1 (GFRA1), also known as GFRα1, is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface receptor that plays a critical role in neuronal survival and differentiation. It acts as a coreceptor for GDNF, NRTN, ARTN, and PSPN, and upon ligand binding, forms a ternary complex with the RET tyrosine kinase coreceptor, activating downstream signaling pathways such as Ras/MAPK and PI3K/Akt.
