Target intelligence / Profile preview
Globo H antigen is an oncogenic glycosphingolipid highly expressed on various carcinomas but not on healthy tissues. Its unique structure makes it both an important biomarker and therapeutic target—especially suited for antibody-based therapies and vaccines aimed at selectively attacking malignant cells while sparing normal ones. It facilitates immune evasion by suppressing T and B cell proliferation and cytokine secretion. Globo H serves as an attractive target for anticancer vaccines and antibody-based therapies.
Antibodies against Globo H can induce both IgG and IgM responses that recognize this epitope on tumor surfaces; these antibodies may mediate direct cytotoxicity or recruit other immune effector functions against tumors expressing Globo H.
