Target intelligence / Profile preview
The glucagon-like peptide 2 receptor (GLP-2R) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2). Activation of GLP-2R stimulates intestinal growth and repair, enhances gut barrier function, modulates gastrointestinal motility and secretion, and affects bone metabolism. GLP-2R is a therapeutic target for conditions like short bowel syndrome and has potential applications in Crohn’s disease, osteoporosis, and chemotherapy-induced mucosal injury management.
GLP-2R agonists stimulate adenylyl cyclase activity, leading to increased cyclic AMP levels and subsequent downstream effects.
