Glucocorticoid-induced TNFR-related protein (GITR), also known as TNFRSF18 and CD357, is a type I transmembrane protein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. It acts as a co-stimulatory molecule, influencing T cell activation, proliferation, and survival. GITR is highly expressed on regulatory T cells and inducibly expressed on effector T cells. Its interaction with GITRL on antigen-presenting cells and other non-lymphoid cells delivers co-stimulatory signals, modulating immune responses and playing a role in autoimmune diseases, cancer, and inflammation.
