Glucosamine-6-phosphate synthase (GlmS) is a key enzyme catalyzing the conversion of fructose-6-phosphate and glutamine into glucosamine-6-phosphate, the first committed step in the biosynthesis of UDP-N-acetylglucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc)[5].
