Glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 2 (G6PC2)

Target
G6PC2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Phosphatase, Integral membrane protein
01

Overview

Glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 2 (G6PC2), also known as IGRP, is an enzyme predominantly expressed in pancreatic β-cells. It modulates glycolytic flux and fine-tunes basal insulin secretion sensitivity by forming a substrate cycle with glucokinase. Genetic variation affects fasting glycemia risk and it serves as an autoimmune target relevant for type 1 diabetes pathogenesis.
