Glucoside xylosyltransferase 1 pseudogene 5 (GXYLT1P5)

Target
GXYLT1P5
Molecular classification
Pseudogene
01

Overview

Glucoside xylosyltransferase 1 pseudogene 5 (GXYLT1P5) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 9, classified as non-coding with no known protein product. While pseudogenes like GXYLT1P5 do not encode functional proteins, some may be transcribed and exert regulatory effects on their parent genes or related pathways. Expression of certain pseudogenes, including GXYLT1P5, has been observed in high-throughput transcriptomic and eQTL studies, and clusters of pseudogenes may be linked to regulatory genetic variants or act as eQTLs affecting prognosis in cancer. However, GXYLT1P5 itself does not currently have an established biological function, disease association, or evidence for therapeutic targeting.

02

Biological functions

Other (Pseudogenes are generally considered non-functional at the protein-coding level, though they may participate in gene regulation or transcriptional processes indirectly)
03

Disease associations

Other (There is no direct evidence for disease involvement from the pseudogene, but some pseudogenes may act in regulatory roles affecting gene expression and have been included in eQTL and prognosis analyses in cancer)
04

Biomarkers

There is limited indirect evidence for prognostic biomarker roles of certain pseudogenes in specific cancers, including clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), but GXYLT1P5 itself is not established as a clinical biomarker
