Overview

Glutamate receptor ionotropic, NMDA 3A (GluN3A), is a subunit of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, a ligand-gated ion channel mediating excitatory neurotransmission. Functional GluN1/GluN3A receptors are uniquely activated by glycine and play distinct roles in neuronal excitability and neural circuit function, especially during early brain development. Alterations in GRIN3A are implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders.
